  • Why parents of juniors and sophomores need to plan ahead

Prior to becoming an academic life coach career, Ms. Angeli served as the CEO of a non-profit for over 15 years and was dedicated to providing financial need-based scholarships and the creation of a college readiness program.

You will learn how an increased ACT score can be the difference of:

How To Write A College Essay: The Personal Statement

Speaker: Sharon Madnek

This presentation will provide students with the tools and perspective necessary to jump-start the college essay writing process. Specific topics include the role of the personal statement in the college application process, topic selection, writing strategies, mastering the personal narrative writing style, and a discussion of common mistakes.

Sharon Madnek is an experienced college application essay consultant and owner of “Say It Write”. Ms. Madnek coaches students both privately and through the Nicolet and Homestead High School Recreation Departments, and is a featured speaker at Milwaukee’s annual meeting of the NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors). Ms. Madnek earned a BBA from UW-Madison and an MBA from Northwestern University, and previously worked in marketing and communications for Pepsi-Cola Company and Lever Brothers Company in New York City.

Athletic Recruiting

Speaker: Jason Lauren

Jason Lauren is the owner and Head Scout for ScoutU. He has helped over 170 athletes with their recruiting to help them move on to play in college, from major NCAA Division I schools like Wisconsin, Missouri and Notre Dame to small Division III schools and junior colleges. Jason has been helping athletes with their college recruiting for 10 years.

During Jason’s session, he will talk about the athletic recruiting process and how it works from both the college’s and athletes’ perspective. He also will give tips on how to navigate through the complex and confusing recruiting process, NCAA rules and will follow it up with a Q & A. Participants will receive instructions on how to receive a free copy of both the NCAA and NAIA college-bound student-athlete guides, which contain tons of recruiting rules and qualifications athletes must meet to play in college.
